Jim is a retired Executive Leader with 30 years of Financial Institution experience with Export Development Canada (EDC). A certified Corporate Director with the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) he served on the Board of Governors of Algonquin College, most recently as Chair of the Board. A member of the Executive Committee of the Ottawa Chapter of the ICD, Jim helped to promote the advancement of Director knowledge in the Ottawa region. Earlier on in his Director career, he sat on the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, the last two years as Vice Chair. Prior to that he was a Director on the Board of Triathlon Ontario.
In his Corporate life, Jim held a variety of senior leadership roles at EDC including: Vice President, Business Development; Vice President, Loan Transformation; Vice President and Chief Risk Officer (CRO); Vice President, Information Technologies Business Team; and General Manager, Export Financing Group. Through his career he led a number of Corporate Change Initiatives including the development and implementation of a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process and the implementation of LEAN process technology to the Financial Services of EDC. He served as Vice Chair of the Executive Risk Management Committee and worked extensively with the Board Risk Management Committee.
Jim grew up in the west end of Ottawa and has been a Kanata resident for the last 40 years. He has always considered the Queensway Carleton his Hospital of choice and is honoured to serve on its Board of Directors.
