Position Summary:


 

Responsibilities:

  • To improve clinical outcomes for selected patient populations through advanced nursing practice, program planning and delivery, consultation, research, education, efficient resource utilization and effective leadership
  • Provides consultation to nursing staff, managers, physicians and other team members
  • Acts as a liaison and consultant to other health care facilities/institutions regarding patient care and health services
  • Provides leadership in development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives
  • Participates in and supports nurses in continuous quality improvement initiatives, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions/care/nursing services on patient outcomes
  • Participates and provides leadership on interprofessional committees related to development of policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, clinical pathways, standards, education or research
  • Provides direct, specialized, comprehensive care/nursing services, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention and collaborative management strategies to positively affect health outcomes
  • Performs advanced health assessment and clinical decision-making within a clinical specialty
  • Enhances the scientific base of nursing practice by utilizing and supporting research in nursing and with other disciplines
  • Evaluates nursing and multidisciplinary research and assesses its impact on patient care and nursing services where appropriate
  • Demonstrate QCH values: accountability, innovation, respect

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing

  • Bachelors of Science Nursing Degree
  • Canadian Nurses Association Certificate in Psychiatric and Mental Health
  • Non-violet Crisis Intervention Certificate
  • Current certificate of competence from College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Minimum of 5 years recent relevant clinical nursing experience in Mental Health
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated teaching and consultative skills
  • Expert communicator
  • Leadership experience
  • Previous adult education/program development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines/timelines and respond to shifting priorities
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing academic growth and development

PREFERRED:

  • Member of Canadian Federation of Mental Health Nurses
  • Member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Experience in program and resource development
  • Experience with clinical documentation in an Electronic Health Record
