Recruitment for Emergency Medicine Physician
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) in Ottawa, Ontario is accepting applications for Emergency Medicine Physicians.
QCH is a high-volume urban community hospital situated in Ottawa's west end, serving over 80,000 emergency visits annually. The department serves as the regional referral centre for hospitals across the Ottawa Valley and is equipped with 41 beds, two negative pressure resuscitation rooms, and dedicated ophthalmology, ENT, and orthopedic equipment.
Candidates will be joining a tight-knit, collaborative group of dedicated emergency physicians. Shifts range from six to eight hours with a minimum of double coverage at all times, and casino-style overnight scheduling is used to minimize sleep disruption. The department supports ongoing professional development through local simulation training, regular CME events, and a group journal club.
Physicians benefit from an exceptional nursing team and a wide range of specialized clinical resources, including geriatric emergency medicine nurses, crisis nurses, orthopedic technicians, social workers, and an intensive care unit staffed by dedicated intensivists available around the clock. A broad range of hospital-based consultants is readily accessible, spanning internal medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, gastroenterology, obstetrics, psychiatry, urology, anesthesia, otolaryngology, cardiology, nephrology, hematology, and infectious disease. The department also benefits from a robust radiology service.
Imaging resources are comprehensive: physicians have access to multiple point-of-care ultrasound machines on every shift, 24/7 CT with radiology interpretation, daily formal ultrasound, and readily available MRI.
