Current Opportunities


The Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) is an acute care facility located in west Ottawa. A 264-bed hospital, the QCH services nearly 500,000 patient visits annually for a community with a large geriatric population, and is a teaching partner with the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. The QCH is a nationally top ranked hospital by Newsweek, has been distinguished by NSQIP for outstanding quality in surgical patient care, and is ranked a top employer by Forbes.

Our Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) unit is a purpose-built elder-friendly medical unit and is the first of its kind in Eastern Ontario. Our Transition to Home Program (THP) is a 24-bed unit providing subacute care and multidisciplinary functional assessments for our frail elderly. Our ALC unit has grown to over 50 beds. The QCH also operates a Geriatric Day Hospital off-site from the main campus, and an OrthoGeriatrics service to assist in perioperative care for a selection of frail surgical patients.

Interested candidates must have a Royal College specialization in Geriatric Medicine.

Role expectations:

  • Provide consultations to all inpatient units.
  • Expectation to share evening/weekend call coverage responsibilities for the THP, ALC, and Rehab units.
  • Opportunities for inpatient MRP/hospitalist duties/
  • Opportunities for outpatient clinics.
  • Opportunities for participation in program development and teaching.
  • Opportunity for cross appointment with Internal Medicine.
