Diabetes (Out Patient) and Endocrine Clinic

Overview

We have a team of 3 endocrinologists, 1 diabetes nurse specialist, 2 registered dieticians and 1 registered practical nurse. We provide specialized, out-patient care to adults who experience a variety of endocrine and metabolic conditions such as Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, lipid disorders, thyroid disease including thyroid cancer, disorders of the parathyroid glands, pituitary and adrenal disease. We are also an Assistive Device Program approved insulin pump program. Our team provides high-quality patient and family-centered care, patient education and self-management support.

Our clinic criteria:

Gestational Diabetes, Type 1 diabetes, complex Type 2 diabetes, A1C higher than 9%, corticosteroid use, undergoing chemotherapy treatment, hypoglycemia unawareness. Most recent blood work is required. The usual wait time for a first consultation appointment is 3-4 months. We are unable to see patients with pre-diabetes or newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Queensway Carleton Hospital Diabetes and Endocrine Clinic is now live on the Ocean eReferral Network, which is a Ministry of Health funded initiative and is free for both senders and receivers. The Ocean eReferral simplifies and streamlines the referral management process over paper-based fax referrals and improves our communication with both referring providers and patients.
