Arriving in the Childbirth Unit

When you arrive at the Childbirth Unit, you will note that the unit is locked for the protection of mothers and babies. Pick up the visitor telephone located next to the Childbirth door, it will ring to the unit's main desk and they will allow access. Follow the corridor to the Childbirth Registration Desk.

If you arrive after 10:00 pm, you will enter the hospital through the Emergency Department and be directed to the Childbirth Unit, as the Main Entrance is locked for security purposes after this time. Please note that the Unit is locked for the protection of mothers and babies. Use the telephone next to the Childbirth Centre door to gain access to the Unit.

When you arrive in the Childbirth Unit, Once you arrive in the Childbirth Unit, you will be registered or admitted by the Patient Registration or Birth Unit Clerk and seen by a Registered Nurse for assessment.
