We are pleased that you have chosen to have your baby at our hospital. We hope that you will find this virtual tour helpful in planning for the arrival of your baby.

The Childbirth Centre has been part of the Queensway Carleton Hospital since 1999 and welcomes close to 2,500 babies into the world every year. Our services include outpatient clinics for care before and after your baby is born, the Birth Unit, a Special Care Nursery, and the Mother and Baby Unit. We have one of the largest community hospital-based obstetrical services in Ontario. Our close partnering with the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and The Ottawa Hospital is crucial in ensuring the best care for you and your family.

Our Philosophy

We provide quality family-centred maternity and newborn care that is respectful of individual choices, cultures and customs. We encourage families to participate in the care of their new baby during their hospital stay and we endeavour to give as much support, encouragement, and education as needed. We work with other health care partners to provide seamless care to our patients and their families. We recognize that pregnancy and birth are normal healthy events. Our role is to support mothers in making decisions about their own care and their baby's care before, during and after giving birth, within the limits.
